Learn Chen Style Tai Chi with the Lao Jia Yi Lu form (Old Frame First Routine) - the oldest, most traditional form in the Chen Style Curriculum as well as the 8-Brocade Qigong Set.

Tai Chi Impressions: Grand Master Chen Zhenglei, a 19th generation descendant of the Chen family performing the Chen Style Lao Jia Yi Lu Tai Chi form.
This very traditional Chen Style form consists of 74 postures and is characterized by a beautiful, elegant movement dynamic - from very slow flowing movements that utilize silk reeling energy, a characteristic specific to Chen Style Tai Chi to movements that utilize what is called in Chinese "fa-jing", a lighting-fast release of refined energy. The Lao Jia Yi Lu feels soft, gentle and pliable in its execution, but within that softness, there is enormous strength and structure. The great masters of Chen Style Tai Chi are said to have practiced this form upwards of twenty times a day to build their physical strength as well as refine their concentration, listening and sensing abilities. Learning the Lao Jia Yi Lu will also prove to be a great stepping stone to the beautiful Chen 24 Fan Form as well as the highly dynamic and powerful Chen 56 Competition Form.
With the Chen Style being the founding style of all other styles of Tai Chi it keeps true to the origins of Tai Chi as a martial art and includes distinct hints at martial arts applications and leads to a high level of connectedness of mind/intent, body and spirit.
Chen Style Tai Chi exhibits movements that tend to be more organic in nature, making the experience of moving energy for many students more accessible and oftentimes more immediate than in any other style of Tai Chi.
This class will also introduce the 8-Brocade Qigong Set - one of the most commonly practiced forms of Qigong around the world. Qigong is a centuries-old Chinese health/exercise regimen that tries to harmonizes body, mind and spirit and cultivates, enhances, and guides vital internal energies to achieve health, vitality, and spiritual awareness.
